Chamblee Cares Organization has partnered with the DeKalb County School System to provide education, training, and encouragement to all school communities in DeKalb County in order to foster mental health wellness and help prevent suicide.

Officers

Jean Coleman
President

 
Jean served as Administrative Assistant to the Dr.Rochelle Lowery and Dr. Norman Sauce, III principals of Chamblee Charter High School from 2005 to 2016. Employed by AT&T as a network cable hazard monitor 1995-2005. Jean served as Assistant Vice President of Telecommunications for Fulton Federal Saving and Loan Association until 1994. She began her career with them in 1971 working in mortgage lending. Jean attended Spelman College and Devry. She received a BS degree in Network Management and Communications from Devry.

 

Holly Middleton, Ph.D,
Vice President

Dr. Holly is a licensed clinical psychologist who has worked in the Atlanta area for 20 years. She specializes in work with children, adolescents, and families. She holds degrees from both Duke University and Georgia State University. Dr. Middleton served as a volunteer at Chamblee Charter High School until her daughter graduated in 2015.  She is excited about continuing her service to the Chamblee community through her efforts for Chamblee Cares.  
 

​​​​​​​Jacques Lee
Treasurer

Jacques recently retired from Citizens Trust Bank of Atlanta where she was Senior Vice President and Manager of the Consumer Banking Division. 

Jacques, who is a native of McDonough, Georgia, graduated from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. She received a B.S. Degree in Math and Economics. Jacques has had an extensive career in banking that include Fulton Federal Savings and Loan, Decatur Federal, First Union and Citizens Trust Bank.  Her career included 20 years as a branch manager. Her role at Citizens Trust Bank included the management of the Retail, Marketing, Invest and Insurance Divisions of the Bank. 

Jacques has a Series 7 and 63 Investment License and is a Licensed Insurance Agent for the State of Georgia. 

Jacques and her husband, Sylvester, are the parents of four children (Sylvester Lee II, Sheneal Tripp, Santoine Lee and Dr. Stedman Lee) and five grandchildren.



​Carmen Hardwick Reese
​Secretary and Media Tech

Carmen is the Director  at Brookhaven UMC Child Development Center and owner of Carmaria Skai Video Editing and Web Design. She possesses degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Georgia State University, Early Childhood Education from GSU, and Computer Support from Georgia Piedmont College. She is also a proud member of the Ga Preschool Association, enjoys working with children and spending time with family. Carmen and her husband are proud parents of 2 amazing children.


Dr. John Simmons
John Simmons, an ordained United Methodist clergy, currently serving at St James UMC on Peachtree Dunwoody Rd.  Son, Rob, was a 2001 graduate of Chamblee HS magnet program.  John has served a variety of United Methodist churches and administrative positions, all in the northeast quadrant of metro Atlanta except for 5 years in Athens.   

Sandra Slaughter
Sandy is a Certified Social Worker who lives in Chamblee.

 She graduated from Columbia University with a Master’s of Science in Social Work.  Her career includes individual, family and group work with veterans, chemically-dependent clients  and, more recently, with students (K-12) in DeKalb County Schools (25 years) until her retirement as a School Social Worker in 2013.

Ms. Slaughter serves on the boards of several non-profits including Chamblee Cares, Inc.  (2016) and Truth in Chaos, Inc. (2015).Ms. Slaughter enjoys volunteer efforts to serve teens/families, travel  to distant lands, family time and politics.
